The US LBM Foundation announced that it would be allocating funds to each division through the Foundation for Giving program. This initiative was established so that the US LBM Foundation can support the charitable causes that are important to our local divisions. Maner Builders Supply chose to donate their funds to a local food pantry, the Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries Inc.!

Since 1978, the Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries Inc. (DCCM Food Pantry) has been on a mission to serve those in need. The inter-denominational coalition, made up of 14 local churches, operates a food pantry in downtown Augusta dedicated to feeding the hungry in the Richmond and Columbia counties in Georgia.

DCCM organizes food distribution events once a month, with an additional distribution once per quarter. Typically, around 30-40 volunteers come together to make a difference. Frank Chandler, President of Maner, explains how the process works, “We set up in a parking lot behind one of the participating churches, where cars and walk-ins loop through to receive food.”

Each year, the pantry distributes about 375,000 pounds of food, providing families with 5-9 bags filled with essential items like frozen meat, canned goods, bakery items, and fresh produce. Most of the food is purchased from the Golden Harvest Food Bank, accompanied by donations from local grocery stores.
